Reds All-time Team

The MLB Network is doing 30 teams in 30 days. They did the Reds the other day, but I just watched it tonight. They are doing an all-time team for each team. Here is the Reds all-time team:

3B Pete Rose
SS Barry Larkin
2B Joe Morgan
RF Frank Robinson
LF George Foster
1B Tony Perez
C Johnny Bench
CF Ken Griffey
P Don Gullett

Mgr. Sparky Anderson

Bench:

CL Rob Dibble
CL John Franco
SP Jose Rijo
OF Vada Pinson
OF Jr.
OF Adam Dunn
C Ernie Lombardi
SS Concepcion

I'd offer one suggestion. Ted Kluszuski at 1B over Perez. Big Klu had only 36 fewer HR than Perez, but had nearly 2,000 fewer at bats. What's more, Klu's slugging percentage was higher than Tony's and his lifetime BA was about 20 points higher. Something to ponder.

One other thing. I think Griffey, Sr. played RF, not CF. Check out the opening day rosters for the Reds and the starting CF for the Reds during the Griffey era was Geronimo and then Dave Collins. Not sure Griffey Sr. qualifies at your all-time CF.

Follow up to last posting - What about Eric Davis as your all-time CF?

I agree with all of your comments. I would add that this was not my team. I was reporting the MLB Network all-time team. Eric Davis over Sr. is a no-brainer in my book, especially when you're talking center field.
