Reds rumors

Something is up with the Reds, as things are heating up on the rumor mill. Fay and Sheldon have both been very active in the last couple of days. Here is a summarizing link.

This may explain why Gomes may be on the back burner right now. Nady would be ok and Damon is a little in baseball years as compared to Gomes. Yet Gomes may have had his career year in 2009.
Damon's leadership along with Scott R. and Aaron H. may something the Reds could use. Are their enough $$$ in the pot?

Nady signed with the Cubs. I love Gomes (we were there the night he hit three home runs) but I think he's trying to hold out for more money than what the Reds will pay. Damon would be great. I could see Castellini coming up with the money to sign Damon if he slips to the Reds on a one year deal in the $6 mil. range. I think the shortstop hole is bigger, but Damon on a bargain would be worth it and too good to pass up.
